Bedpan washers
For optimum cleaning and disinfection results, bedpans and urine bottles must be loaded into the bedpan washer immediately after use. This ensures proper hygiene and minimizes the risk of infection.
Leasing a bedpan washer is possible through your insurer, and in some cases, a temporary rental may be available.
Before purchasing a bedpan washer, we offer a trial run option, so that you can see for yourself how Dörr Nova bedpan washers work and how they can benefit your organization.
The purchase price of a bedpan washer is generally a bit higher than a macerator/shredder. The reason for this difference is obvious: a bedpan washer is a more complex piece of equipment and also certified as a class IIa medical device. This means that the manufacturer undergoes an annual audit for procedures and regulations.
In the long term, however, a bedpan washer has proven to be a significantly less expensive option than a macerator in practice.
- Lower operating cost
Macerators are accompanied by the high, recurring cost of purchasing disposable items. Over a period of ten years, this becomes so costly that a bedpan washer is almost always the much more affordable option.
This becomes abundantly clear at roughly three washes per day : at this frequency, the bedpan washer becomes thousands of euros cheaper than the macerator. - A more sustainable solution
A hospital with a macerator releases 20,000 kilos of cellulose pulp into the sewage system annually. Not all water boards will accept this, or they may impose substantial surcharges in doing so. Bedpan washers completely bypass this problem. - Energy consumption
It is often thought that bedpan washers consume a lot of energy. This true to certain extent, but power consumption only increases briefly during part of the cleaning process.
All in all, a bedpan washer will not only be the more sustainable option almost every time, but also a less expensive alternative to a macerator.
Yes, absolutely. The bedpan washer is designed for professional use and can run multiple times in succession without having to wait a significant amount of time in between cycles.
At Dörr Medical, most parts are delivered from stock. The well-equipped service vehicles of our technicians allow them to resolve almost all malfunctions immediately, so that your bedpan washer will be up and running again in no time.
At the end of every cleaning cycle, the door/lid of the Nova bedpan washer will open and indicate that it is ready for the next cleaning cycle.
Dörr Nova bedpan washers are equipped with a foot pedal, which allows you to start the washing process without using your hands. After pressing the foot pedal, the door/lid closes automatically and the washing process begins.
Dörr Nova bedpan washers are fully compliant with current hygiene and safety standards and feature a CE marking. They are also NEN-EN- ISO 15883 compliant and, in turn, Kiwa and Belgaqua certified. As such, they are guaranteed to deliver reliable performance and meet the highest quality standards.
Bedpan washers are often installed in existing spaces to replace older models. This means that modifications are rarely required.
For smooth installation, we can provide you with a detailed diagram for your specific situation.
The bedpan washer can be operated hands-free, preferably by using the foot pedal, which contributes to safe and hygienic work practices.
A urine bottle or bedpan filled with feces can easily be loaded into the Dörr Nova bedpan washer. The foot pedal starts the cleaning process, closing the lid and then tilting and emptying out the bedpan or urine bottle. The washer door is closed before the emptying process begins, which prevents aerosols from escaping. This contributes to better hygiene and the safety of your healthcare staff.
The cleaning process involves several steps:
- Cold and hot rinses ensure a thorough cleaning.
- This is followed by the thermal disinfection phase, during which the bedpan washer generates steam.
- After the products have been disinfected, they are cooled to a lukewarm temperature and the remaining steam is safely discharged into the drainage system.
Once this process is complete, the bedpans and urine bottles are then thoroughly clean, disinfected, and ready for re-use.
The length of the washing cycle depends on the program selected, the water pressure, and the water temperature. The standard program usually takes about 7 minutes. The user does not have to be present during the washing process.
The bedpan washer’s program varies and depends on the nature of the excrement. For reference, a standard cycle typically consumes:
- approximately 9 liters of cold water
- approximately 18 liters of hot water
- approximately 0.2 kWh of electricity
The user does not need to carry out any kind of technical maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of the bedpan washer.
The container that holds the rinsing agent, however, must be changed out regularly.
Periodic cleaning the exterior of the machine is also recommended for hygienic reasons. Any technical maintenance that may be required can be carried out by in-house hospital technicians or specialized Dörr Medical technicians.
Dörr Nova bedpan washers are over 99% recyclable, which contributes to sustainable practices. As a WEEE-registered business, Dörr Medical employs responsible and environmentally friendly methods for recycling raw materials.
A bedpan washer enables bedpans and urine bottles to be reused, making it a sustainable alternative to the use disposable products. This reduces both costs and waste, while facilitating green work methods at your organization.
Is there a service contract available? What is the response time if my bedpan washer malfunctions?
Dörr Medical offers various maintenance packages, from a preventive contract to comprehensive, all-in coverage.
You can count on us for fast, effective support in the event of a malfunction — even without a contract. Depending on the urgency, malfunctions can be addressed immediately, and we are available 24/7 for assistance.
Dörr recommends annual maintenance visits performed by our service department. A standard maintenance visit entails inspection and repair of the water valves as well as replacement of the dosing pump hose. These materials are included in the maintenance price. A temperature validation measurement will also be carried out. A NEN 3140 test can be conducted at your request.
The costs depend on use and quantity: we would be happy to provide you a customized quote.
All Dörr Medical equipment comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. We take quality and reliability very seriously, so we continue to provide support even after the warranty has expired, ensuring that your product is always functioning optimally.
A bedpan/portable toilet washer is a washing machine/disinfector intended to quickly and effectively empty, clean, and disinfect bedpans and urine bottles. Thanks to their smart design, Dörr Nova bedpan washers ensure that all your products come out of the machine clean and dry. A bedpan washer is a medical device and, as such, must always comply with the NEN-EN 15883 1 and 3 legal standards.
We always try to deliver our products directly from stock. However, demand tends to increase sharply in the autumn, which can extend delivery times. For this reason, we recommend ordering promptly to ensure that your Dörr Nova bedpan washer will arrive on your preferred delivery date.
Installation expenses are always stated in the quote, so you never have to worry about hidden costs.
A depreciation period of roughly 15 years is generally used as the reference point for bedpan washers in a healthcare environment. However, in practice, we regularly see Dörr Nova bedpan washers still in use over 20 years later without issue. It’s another testament to the sturdy construction and long life cycle of our products. Annual maintenance is, of course, essential to ensure optimal results.
The price of a bedpan washer depends on the quantity ordered and the configuration. Dörr Medical would be happy to provide you a customized quote for your specific situation.
The ergonomic loading height prevents excessive strain and injuries to healthcare staff by reducing the required lifting and bending to an absolute minimum.
Standard bedpans and urine bottles fit into the swivel rack of the Dörr Nova bedpan washer.
The Dörr Nova 4000 features a larger swivel rack that can fit 1 or 2 liter measuring cups. If you plan to use specific items, we recommend indicating this in advance so that we can optimally customize the machine to suit your needs.
Bedpans and urinals are loaded into the swivel rack of the Dörr Nova bedpan washer when they are full. After pressing the foot pedal, the door/lid closes and only then are the contents of the bedpan washer emptied (i.e. with the door/lid closed).
Once the rinsing cycle has ended, the steam is safely discharged into the drainage system, where it condenses and any excess pressure is relieved via the aerater. This is especially important if cytostatics are present in the feces in order to protect staff from exposure.

medical warming cabinets
All Dörr Medical products come with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Our commitment doesn’t stop there: you are always welcome to call on Dörr Medical for support, even after the warranty period has expired. This will keep your warming cabinet running reliably for as long as possible.
Yes. Dörr Medical warming cabinets for medical use are made of stainless steel and feature glass doors, ensuring that the appliance is both hygienic and durable.
The smooth surfaces and rounded corners make the cabinets easy to clean with products that are commonly available in the healthcare sector, without affecting the functionality or safety of the cabinets themselves.
The IFW medical warming cabinet was originally developed to warm IV fluids.
However, it is more common nowadays to opt for specialized IV warming systems, which offer more precise temperature regulation and immediate patient safety.
The IFW is now primarily used for heating and sustaining the temperature of rinsing fluids and other liquids not used for patients.
As a result, the warming cabinet continues to be a safe and reliable solution for use in operating rooms, treatment rooms, and laboratories.

Dörr Medical does not offer any standard solutions for connecting warming cabinets to your hospital management system (BAS). This is because hospitals often have strict internal regulations for connecting external equipment to their systems.
In consultation, however, we can prepare the cabinet to be able to include sensors that are part of your own BAS equipment. This will still allow you to integrate the monitoring you prefer, while ensuring that the safety and guidelines of your internal system remain intact.
Yes, Dörr Medical can handle the installation of your warming cabinet.
However, many of our standard warming cabinets boast simple, user-friendly installation, which means that your own technical staff will often be able to install them with ease.
For more complex setups, like our customized cabinets or interlocking systems, you can leave the installation entirely to Dörr Medical. Our technicians will ensure that the warming cabinet is properly installed, tested, and commissioned on site.
